Who do you think most need and deserve financial help from the government?
1) people who just lost jobs;
2) young couple/ people who have children;
3) jobless people aged 70 or above.
Governmental financial support should consider young couples with dependents, compared with unemployed individuals, including those who recently lost their jobs and those who are above 70 years of age. This may sound unfair but may be the maximum result of the use of money.
Young parents could use the money to support their children. In the interest of those individual households, the money helps a lot, paying for children’s food, education and many other expenses. Young parents could use the money to buy things, and the country’s economy needs those households to spend.
At this point, as we take the broad and long view, the money has far-reaching significance, meaning more than helping those families, and it is to nurture(培育) the nation’s future, to boost(提(ti)升) the country’s economy and to strengthen the national fabric(国家(jia)结(jie)构/基础(chu)). With those costs covered or partly covered, young working parents—the country’s backbone—would be grateful to the government, feeling supported, and committed to their jobs and the community.
For those who have recently become unemployed, what the government should provide is not financial help; instead, the government should develop employment-help or career-help programs. For the old-aged jobless group, money directly given to their bank accounts may be a convenient solution but not the proper solution. This is because we should consider their old age as a greater factor than unemployment in causing their inabilities. Free or low-cost 24/7 care may be better help than money.
The aforementioned reasons represent a clear position: compared with any unemployed individuals, young couples with children deserve the government’s financial support.
